Why This Matters
Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they feel alone, hesitant to ask questions, or discouraged by traditional academic pressure.
Learning alongside a supportive peer creates comfort, confidence, and motivation—helping students engage more deeply, develop positive study habits, and believe in their ability to succeed.
This service is designed for students who benefit from collaborative learning and gentle academic support—especially those who feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or isolated in their studies.
Study buddies help students stay organized, review concepts together, practice problem-solving, prepare for quizzes or assignments, and develop effective study habits in a relaxed, supportive way.
Unlike formal tutoring, this service emphasizes companionship and shared learning. The focus is on building confidence, comfort, and motivation rather than delivering instruction in a high-pressure environment.
If a suitable study buddy is not available within the Books for Dreams volunteer network, we collaborate with partner organizations to help connect students with a volunteer study buddy who can provide support.
